✨ What an unforgettable experience for our 4th and 5th grade students! Today, they had the incredible opportunity to hear from local author Robert Beatty as he shared the inspiration behind his books, answered students questions, and signed books. ✍️📚

Reminder | Transylvania County Schools is on Spring Break this week, so there will be no classes from March 16-20. Enjoy a safe and restful break!

It's not everyday that kindergartners get to interact with world-class musicians, but, in Transylvania County, it's probably more common than anywhere else. Today, Pisgah Forest Elementary School students listened, asked questions and learned from musicians in the Brevard Philharmonic. The Brevard Philharmonic's "Music in the Schools" program brought a whole quartet to PFE to teach students about different types of instruments and how they are played. One of these musicians is a former TCS student! Students asked great questions and danced to the rhythms. A glockenspiel solo in the tune of the "Paw Patrol" theme song was a favorite!

Pisgah Forest Elementary School students in all grades have been working with Mrs. Harris to create a stunning glow-in-the-dark display that will debut during PFE's Title I Literacy Night on Thursday! This hallway of student artwork will transform into a bioluminescent wonderland featuring critters from the mountains to the coast. While it may look like something from a fairytale when it's all done, it's actually the creative result of lessons from Mrs. Harris that incorporate STEAM and N.C. biology into the arts. Keep an eye out for the reveal!

This week, PFE proudly recognizes Mrs. Olivia Shuler during School Social Worker Week.
Her advocacy, compassion, and commitment to our students help create the caring environment that makes PFE so special. We are grateful for the impact she makes each day.
Thank you, Mrs. Shuler!

Last week in PE, students got to participate in their very own Winter Olympics! ❄️ They competed in air hockey, ice skating, snowball toss, curling, and ice hockey- bringing the winter spirit indoors and showing off their teamwork and skills! 🏅

As we wrap up Love the Bus Week, we want to give a big thank you to Ms. Lisa! We are so grateful for all you do for our students each day. 🚌👏

Congratulations to Mrs. Shober on being named PFE’s Teacher of the Quarter! 🎉 We even had a very special guest presenter who proudly shared that she is his “best friend” and insisted on helping with the big moment. 💛

Dear TCS Community,
Due to unexpected snowfall in parts of the county, schools will be on a 2-hour delay this morning, February 9. Buses will not run on icy roads. Thank you for your understanding.

Dear Transylvania County Schools community,
Due to icy road conditions in parts of our county and expected low temperatures overnight, Transylvania County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay tomorrow, Friday, February 6. This decision has been made out of an abundance of caution to prioritize the safety of our students and staff.
The delayed start will provide drivers with daylight visibility to safely navigate any remaining slick areas. We believe this is the safest option for our school community.
Important Bus Route Information:
Please be advised that buses will not run on the following roads, or any secondary roads accessed from these roads, due to hazardous icy conditions:
Little River Campground Rd.
Reasonover Rd.
Solomon Jones Rd.
Upper Rich Mountain Rd.
Allen McCall Rd.
Macintosh Rd.
Shelton Rd.
Slick Fisher Rd.
Staton Rd.
McKee Rd.
ALTERNATE PICK-UP LOCATIONS:
If your regular stop is affected, please bring your child to one of these locations or contact your school for information:
Little River Area: Little River Fire Department or Little River Baptist Church
Lake Toxaway Area: Lake Toxaway Fire Department
Balsam Grove Area: Balsam Grove Community Center
Carsons Creek Area: Connestee Fire Department (at Connestee back gate)
IMPORTANT SAFETY REMINDER: Please keep your children inside where it's warm until the bus arrives. Drivers will honk their horns and allow extra time for your child to board the bus.
Please continue to follow our social media accounts and visit our website for any updates.

Dear Transylvania County Schools families and staff,
Due to the significant winter weather our area has experienced this week and last week, we are making an adjustment to our school calendar.
State calendar law limits school systems to only 5 remote learning days per school year, and we have now used our allotted remote learning days due to weather-related closures. To ensure that our students receive the required, in-person instructional time, the planned early release days on Friday, February 13 and Friday, May 1 will now be full instructional days with regular dismissal times.
We recognize that calendar changes may require adjustments to family schedules, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we navigate these weather-related challenges.
If you have questions regarding this schedule change, please contact your school's main office.
Thank you for your continued support of Transylvania County Schools.
Sincerely,
Transylvania County Schools
